Rob Fries is the parking manager for the City of Virginia Beach. The City has a diverse parking system totaling to over 13,000 citywide spaces that includes the typical downtown central business district, the resort area at the oceanfront, and several remote surface lots. The City operates eight garages, ten surface lots, and 650 metered spaces, a parking enforcement program, and a 30-block residential parking permit program. My goals for PAV are to continue to meet the needs of our membership by providing on-going education and training sessions at our spring and fall workshops, and growing the membership base. I have enjoyed working with the board in creating a new service awards program to recognize the accomplishments and professional achievements of our members and organizations. I look forward to creating new opportunities for all our members to continue in the parking profession.
